The CT scanner at Sechelt Hospital has been operating at full capacity again since Monday evening. Mechanical issues, cooling issues and electrical problems in the wake of the February 5 storm have all been fixed, Vancouver Coastal Health spokesperson Tiffany Akins says.
She could not say how many patients were affected. Doctors, knowing there was a problem, ordered alternative tests like ultrasounds, or sent patients to Lions Gate Hospital.
The waiting time for a CT scan until the backlog is cleared is unknown at this time. The Coast Clarion will report this information as soon as it becomes available.
Sechelt Hospital does an average of 117 CT scans a week.
that poor machine.looking after us so diligently and the people that work there cudos to them.This is a vital piece of equipment for the coast.I feel very lucky to have it.But i guess these are regular things almost everywhere now.makes x-ray seem outdated.What i would like to see is an MRI.These scans too now are common place.I have to go to VGH for follow up scans for the last 5 years.Thats getting to be quite a hike.
